Our methodology combines thorough monthly investigative interviews with operators, franchisees, and consumers, store visits to provide accurate sales/traffic forecasting on a monthly basis. We continually evaluate the success or failure of strategic growth plans, assess the effectiveness of “buy-in” from the franchisee community and unit operators, and measure the execution of corporate initiatives at the store level. We utilize our extensive portfolio of restaurant industry contacts, customer surveys and our years of experience in our research process. Our core approach is centered on what happens at the street level – where the sales actually take place.
Our due diligence goes beyond the spreadsheet to examine how the customer responds, how the brand’s perceived, we assess the effectiveness of management’s initiatives, advertising, menu innovation, and technology as well as the franchisees buy-in, and other key indicators to gauge a brand’s activities. We are always sensitive to inflection points.
This grassroots approach provides powerful insights, revealing far more than what can be gleaned from the earnings reports concerning the financial and operational health of the companies we cover.
